Napoles and Pork Barrel

Napoles and Pork Barrel.
Two synonymous terms nowadays.
She could have done something for the country. She could have returned all the money. She could have helped the poor. She could have helped and unending list of people. But she did not!
Jane Napoles has allowed herself to become the slave of money. She truly ingenious, as all other exceptional Filipinos are, but in a negative sense.

What I truly hated about her was hearing and seeing on television all her household helpers being commanded to invent names. Her drivers, her helpers? All of them inventing names for people who should have been receiving funds. It was truly disgusting when I know I am part of the citizenry who in many ways pay taxes. I am part of that lump sum which could have been brought back to us in an advantageous forms, but was unfortunately taken to the drain… going to Napoles’s bank accounts!

The Bureau of Internal Revenue has been calling to people to pay taxes. My mother, a public school teacher has her salary deducted monthly for taxes. But where has all the taxes gone? Ordinary people has been religiously paying for it because they are afraid of not following the law. We are afraid of its claws.
Senators. Congressmen. Big people. Law-makers. They aren’t afraid of law. We have entrusted in them the funds; the taxes; the life-blood of our country. We have elected and chose them for those positions because we believed in them. Now that they have unjustly used PORK BARREL for their benefit, they must answer for it. They must be made to pay for their wrongdoings.

President Noynoy lead us to follow the right way and he was able to lift the economy up but other people take the opportunity to lead for granted.  I believe that a lot will be gained and a little will be lost if the system is abolished and the funds directed to better targeted programs.  Napoles has been in league with the involved senators and congressmen. I hope that same claw from the government who placed fear on ordinary people’s lives must equal its power to putting “big people” who stole from us in jail.

My only  wish  is that the government will not stop until justice is served.
